Giant anteater Giant anteater

We recently welcomed Pancho and Kara, the giant anteaters, who arrived in Belfast from Germany. Giant anteaters are part of a European breeding programme, there are only 200 anteaters living in zoos around the world and our latest arrivals are the only pair in Ireland.

Getting to the zoo

Belfast Zoo is located on Antrim Road in north Belfast, just off the M2 motorway. We are 15 minutes from Belfast city centre by car and are easy to reach by bus or train.
