How we look after and manage our animals is a key part of what we do.

Belfast Zoo cares for many animals that are in danger and who depend on us to provide them with the best care possible.

Good animal husbandry depends on the following factors:

• enclosure and exhibit design
• enrichment
• diet
• zookeeper and veterinary care
• record management systems
• working with other zoos
• relevant breeding programmes.

The zoo has a long history of good husbandry and successful animal care and, where relevant, breeding many of the species we look after.
