We care for many species that are in danger and these animals depend on us to provide them with the best care possible. How we look after and manage our animals is a top priority and a key part of what we do.
Good animal husbandry depends on the following factors:
- enclosure and exhibit design
- zoo keeper and veterinary care
- record management systems
- working with other zoos
- relevant breeding programmes.
The zoo has a long history of good husbandry and successful animal care and, where relevant, breeding many of the species we look after.
