Full education and outreach visits cover the following topics:

Survival  Classification
Animals are facing increasing dangers in the wild. Almost all major habitats are being damaged and destroyed. We will explore how animals become endangered and the efforts which are being made to conserve the planet’s wildlife.  Do amphibians have gills or lungs? How and where are a spider’s legs attached? These are some of the questions we will look at as we arrange animals into groups by exploring the ways in which animals are similar and how different they can be.

GCSE and A Level

GCSE Applied Science (Science in the workplace)
We examine how science helps with the health, welfare and husbandry needs of the animals and how health and safety is maintained in the zoo. IT is used extensively by management, keeping staff, for education and for veterinary purposes. We will also look how waste and other environmental impacts are managed.

Customer service
This session is suitable for students studying Business Studies or Leisure and Tourism/Travel and Tourism courses at BTEC, GCSE and AS/A2 level.
We discuss the benefits of excellent customer service and examine how quality customer service is achieved at the zoo and how it meets the needs of different customers, both internal and external. We look at the organisational structure of the zoo and the roles and responsibilities within that structure. We also discuss the importance of evaluating customer service and examine how the zoo receives feedback from its customers and how complaints are dealt with.
