Travel back in time to the Belfast Zoo of the 1940s, as featured in the movie, 'Zoo' (now showing in cinemas across Northern Ireland)!
The zoo in the film is accessed through intricate entrance gates and these are featured in many key scenes.
We are delighted to announce that the gates featured in the film have now been installed onsite and the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Deirdre Hargey, recently stopped by Belfast Zoo to admire the newest additions to our Cave Hill attraction.
'Zoo' is inspired by the true story of Belfast Zoo’s ‘elephant angel’ and tells the unforgettable story of Buster the baby elephant, who is rescued during the air raid bombings of 1941 by twelve-year-old Tom and his gang of unlikely friends.
Grab your popcorn and head to local cinemas to check out 'Zoo' and then swing by Belfast Zoo for a 'zooper' day out with your little monkeys. Pose for a snap beside the zoo gates or you can even enter our trail to be in with the chance of winning an ele-phantastic prize!
