Izzy the zebra

21 July 2010

Our baby boom is continuing with the birth of a female Grant’s zebra. The foal was born on Saturday 17th July, and is doing well under the care of mum Ellen. The striped new addition to the zoo family is called Izzy.

Zebras have long noses so that they can still look for predators while grazing. They also huddle together to confuse a predator with a maze of stripes if they are being targeted.

You can contribute towards the care of these our zebras by taking part in the zoo’s adoption scheme.
