Pitter patter of tiny meerkat feet

28 July 2010

Our baby boom shows no sign of slowing with the arrival of five baby meerkats!

Meerkats are mongooses and are solitary and nocturnal animals. They are also burrowing animals and have four sharp claws on their feet for digging.

The five new babies left their burrow for the first time a few days ago and are enjoying exploring the meerkat enclosure with their parents.

You can contribute towards the care of our meerkats by taking part in the zoo’s adoption scheme.
