Sea lion eating a fish

There are two places to eat in Belfast Zoo.

Options include:

  • Ark Café
  • kiosk serving light refreshments.

All our facilities are owned and operated by Manor House Catering.

For more information, call us on 028 9077 6277 (extension 211).

Ark Café

Ark Café is located at the bottom of the zoo, close to our main entrance.

The menu includes popular dishes such as:

  • chips
  • chicken curry
  • peppered chicken
  • sausage rolls
  • homemade vegetable soup
  • baked potatoes.

It also offers sandwiches, tea, coffee, soft drinks, sweets and other confectionery.

If you have a nut allergy, we take care to mark all items that contain nuts. Our catering assistants are happy to help with any queries you may have.

Ark Café is open from 10am to 5.30pm in summer (April 1 to September 30) and from 10am to 3.30pm in winter (October 1 to March 31).

Mountain Tea House

The Mountain Tea House is no longer available for food and drink.

In June 2009, a fire left the building unsalvageable.

The Ark Café is the only place in the zoo where you can buy hot food and drinks during autumn and winter.

Kiosk

The kiosk is located beside the main entrance to the zoo.

It offers a range of refreshments including:

  • confectionery
  • crisps
  • cold drinks
  • ice-cream
  • lollipops.

The kiosk is open from March to September.

Our animals

Belfast Zoo is home to more than 1,200 animals and 140 different species.

The majority of our animals are in danger in their natural habitat.

About the zoo

Belfast Zoo opened in 1934 and is one of Northern Ireland's top attractions.

It receives more than 300,000 visitors a year.
